ELECTRONIC SPECIALISTS 21621 Reflection Lane "Building and servicing personal computers since 1975" |
A slower than normal computer has some amount of spyware, adware, malware, trojans and viruses. When a computer slows down, intermittently crashes, shuts down by itself, won't boot or shut down correctly or warning windows pop up, it's time to restore the Windows operating system. Understand that the restoration or recovery disks or partitions that come with your computer will erase everything-including your data and programs-before re-installing Windows. Electronic Specialists has three programs that can help you get your computer working again: 1: Basic Restoration $99: At your home, we will restore your computer to as-new condition, re-install peripherals such as printers and scanners, and get you back on the internet. We will not save any data, install any additional programs or security or update Windows to the current date. You are free to do this yourself. 2: Basic restoration with data recovery $150: You must have less than 2GB of data for us to do this in your home. We will save your documents, desktop, favorites, and any other data you wish (up to 2GB) to an external drive, erase your drive, install a fresh Windows XP operating system, move your data back into the restored drive, install your printer and setup your internet and email, and install a fresh anti-virus and anti-spyware program. We will not update Windows but will set Windows to update automatically. Note that if you have more than 2GB of data we must restore the computer at our shop and there will be an additional $25 charge for transportation and gas. 3: Advanced restoration with data recovery and all updates $220: Our best program must be done at our facility; We will pick up your computer and redeliver it restored in a day or two. We will save all data up to 10GB, then we will restore and update Windows and add new data backup and security programs. This will save you money, as on-site labor rates run $79/hr and advanced restorations take between seven and twelve hours to update Windows from Microsoft and other suppliers after the restoration. The low flat rate eliminate the hourly sticker shock because we can work on several computers at once in our shop. We will take the computer to our facility, re-install Windows, perform all critical security updates and service packs, install AVG 8.0 anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, Adobe Reader 9 and Flash 10 updates, check for updated drivers, and install whatever programs you supplied. We will make expert-recommended changes to Windows such as removing known bugs and limitations, install our own secondary backup system, then return the computer to you and set up your peripherals and internet connection and show you how to use the included backup and protection programs. There are some situations and facts that you must be aware of: Saving data could also possibly save virus and downloaded malware programs, infected websites in your favorites, macro viruses in your documents folder, rootkit malware in downloaded pictures, along with other unwanted and harmful garbage. We will save all of the data in your My Documents folder, on your Desktop, your address book, email folders and downloads, and your Favorites/Bookmarks. You may also be saving whatever malware that hurt your computer in the first place. We will scan all saved data for known malware, but understand that nothing is perfect. We only save data. That means files that you have made in the My Documents folder, which holds documents, pictures, Excel spreadsheets and so on. We will also look for and save the Outlook Express address book, Outlook data and settings, Thunderbird profiles, Favorites, Desktop data, PDA data, Quicken/Quickbooks and TurboTax data. You must indicate any additional data that you wish to save from any programs you use. Some data might not be saved, it may be damaged or erased. All of your data will be checked with our anti-virus and anti-spyware programs before restoring. We do not save programs, as these must be reinstalled with your original CDs, unless they are old 16-bit programs in their own folder, or downloaded programs in your download folder, assuming you have one. If you don't have your original programs on CD-ROM, floppies, or downloaded programs, we may be able to supply them at an additional charge. We will install only what you give us; any programs you are missing is your responsibility. If you have lost your program disks or restoration disks, you will have to get them, or we can get them at additional cost if you wish, and we will have to find all of your hardware drivers on line. If you have more than 10GB of data, perhaps lots of ITunes music, pictures or videos, there will be an additional $2 per GB charge. Call us at 561-487-6103 ext 2 to make an appointment. |
