Analyze your needs when buying a computer.Rather than buying on price or gimmicks such as microprocessor speed, or software packages you'll never use, you should buy your system depending on what you actually intend to use your computer for, both now and what you might wish to do in the future. Misinformation is the norm, even for most of the name-brand vendors. Ever had a system that started crashing after you added something? Even well-known companies such as HP/Compaq, Dell and Gateway take shortcuts such as cheap motherboards with integrated sound and video and virtually no free resources, and towers with tiny power supplies that run on the ragged edge trying to run popular accessories such as USB accessories or CD/DVD Burners. Unless you intend to replace your computer every three months, it makes more sense to buy one that can be upgraded easily with no resource limitations. And if you only intend to use your computer for internet cruising, writing letters or banking, you don't need to go nuts with bleeding-edge processors as some companies might want you to believe. For most people, a 4-year old computer can be just as fast as a brand-new system, with just some inexpensive upgrades. Remember that a computer can only run as fast as the weakest bottleneck, and on the internet, all computers are limited to the speed of the phone or cable lines that connect to your computer. We have both new computers and reconditioned traded-in units that may be perfect for your needs. Then there are the power users; If you need to edit digital video clips or design animated website graphics, or need to use video conferencing on your DSL or T1 line, if you scan photographic images at 4000 dpi and need to edit them using Adobe Photoshop, if you design 3-D images using Autocad, you risk being very unhappy if you buy a seemingly good computer only to find out that it cannot be upgraded, or has a processor not designed for your application. Various processors from Intel and AMD all have their own strong and weak points. A processor that is fast with video rendering can be slow as a business computer. EDS specializes in building you a system depending on your needs, and not on simply how much you want to spend. Because we know who makes the best hardware for each type of equipment, each system is built with the correct choice of boards, drives and components that we know will perform best for you, and are known to be dependable, and follow industry standards for compatibility. Also, our systems are fully upgradable, unlike systems from Dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway and IBM, which limit bios functions, have non-standard hardware components, or use modified versions of the Windows operating system. Our computers are sold as hardware only. Instead of bundling software you don't need, we give you the choice of software and hardware options to fit your needs. Most important, customer service is not farmed out to non-technical people based in India with limited language and technical skills, but based here in Boca Raton under direction by Dave Miga, a Certified Electronic Technician/Engineer who has been designing, building and servicing "personal computers" since 1975. Check out our new computers custom-made for your needs, set up at no extra charge in your home, with our exclusive free service that transfers your data and internet accounts to your new computer. Choose EDS; we can provide the special services that the mail-order and discount stores can't provide. If you're moving up from an older system, you probably want your data and applications moved to the new system. All you get with a system from a retail vendor is a system set up the same way they do for everyone. It is up to you to figure out how to transfer your important information and settings to your new system. EDS provides this service at no extra charge with every computer we sell. In addition, EDS can offer important safeguards such as auto-backup of documents and business data to a USB memory stick, and Full System Backup to a second hard drive, which can be lifesavers if you run a business and absolutely cannot afford to lose critical data because of a computer crash or virus attack. All of our systems come with Backup Strategies that Microsoft Windows simply doesn't offer. Even when Windows crashes to the point that it seems hopeless to everyone, even the Microsoft techs, you can usually restore your system yourself without loosing any data. We will set up your computer wherever you wish, and give you personal instruction with any system sold, either new or refurbished. Personal at-home instruction and tutoring is available, using your system at your home, at your pace. Warranties are not the same. Ask these questions from your vendor:Will your system be serviced in your home or business within 24 hours, or must you take it apart and bring everything to the store, or maybe even have to ship it back to the vendor? If your system crashes and you need technical assistance, must you call an 800 number somewhere in cow country or India and get put on hold, or can you talk directly with the person who built your unit? Does the vendor provide you with a backup solution to restore your system after a crash or are you on your own to pick up the pieces? After the usual one-year warranty, will your vendor tell you that you're SOL, or are replacement parts easily availiable? Major manufacturers like Dell, Compaq and IBM require that replacement parts must come from them, even though their quality may not be equivalent to the brand-name components that we choose. For example, Dell sends used, refurbished parts for your "new" computer! A replacement floppy drive from us will work in any industry-standard custom system made, but it might not fit in your HP or Gateway. EDS can service or update your current systemNeed more memory? A larger hard drive, or CD/DVD burner for backing up? Want your kid's and your computer to share one Internet connection? Want to go broadband? Having problems such as connecting to the internet, or is your system crashing? We are specialists at servicing your computer at your home. Have an emergency? EDS can probably show up the same day with replacement components on hand and get you back in business the same day. We have sources even the big companies don't know about. So if you live in Boca Raton, Delray or Boynton Beach, give Dave a call at (561) 487-6103. It will be the best decision you will ever make concerning your computer, and maybe even your sanity. |
